Learning Center

Below are a series of videos that will give you a better understanding of our manufacturing process what it means to be American Made. Building furniture by hand really makes a difference that you can see and feel.

Forging & Welding

While not every piece of furniture we make involves forging, many do. Like everything we do here, forging is done by hand. We use age-old blacksmithing skills to create this truly unique, modern furniture.

Preparing the Steel Frame for Painting

The next step is to clean up the steel frame and prepare the surface of the metal for powder coat painting. This involves grinding to ensure all surfaces are even, wheelabrating the surface of the metal, and washing the frames.

Wood Finishing & Product Assembly

Founded in 1984 by Art and Susan Barber, Charleston Forge rapidly grew into the company it is today. It is respected not only for its great design, craftsmanship, and quality, but also for its dedication to excellent customer service.

Understanding Scaling
